I previously completed ME IR at stapleford and had a great experience. The Cpl course was a little different. This in the most part was due to how the school was dealing with C19 at the time. Many instructors and engineering staff were furloughed. I flew a nice piper arrow, but it was very unreliable. Due to engineers on furlough it spent more time in the hangar than in the air. Other arrows were available but they were all quite different power and instrument fit. Bookings were chaotic and this resulted in me flying 3 hours in 3 weeks. The progress was too slow for me so I left and went to another ATO. Stapleford were understanding about this. I Course notes could be better. For the cpl the airspace surrounding Stapleford makes it hard to progress on a VFR course. The instructors are very good though along with the course coordinator. Without these excellent staff the school would struggle. During my cpl course Bucks uni made a deal with Stapleford. This meant that a swathe of annoying and immature students were staying in the accommodation. Parties, drinking and childish behaviour ruined the ethos at the school. One incident where a student decided to doughnut his car next to some parked aircraft. He was let go. But you get the picture. I imagine these points will be addressed in the future.
