I got my CPL and MEIR at ASW in 2016.

A very friendly bunch of guys, interested in training you rather than taking your money. (They'll still take your money though!)

I came with a 10 year expired PPL and was fully expecting to re-fly most of the course again. Instead, I did 3 training flights with ASW before they put my up for the test - which is testament to the quality, experience and confidence of the instructor.

I took the CPL and MEIR in minimum hours and passed both first time, so they're doing something right.

The location is ideal for IR training - there are only a couple of options test-wise meaning that the training can be tailored more effectively as there are fewer mock routes available. For VFR flying, it's a relatively quiet but still controlled international airport. Ideal for learning to fly AND talk in the radio.

Aircraft were older but well equipped and well maintained, I never had any reliability issues and personally I found slightly older aircraft fitted my budget better.

The only issues I had were weather related (it's the UK) and only during the VMC flying anyway - it's arguably better to train IFR in IMC.

All in all I had a great experience and I'm welcomed back every time I pass by.
