I started my training with PPL at Wellesbourne in 2015. I had a couple of different instructors when I first started and about half way through my PPL I continued my training with Ken Masters through to a first time pass. I started with flying a teccnam P2001 which was a lovely little aircraft in great condition with modern avionics, unfortunately I found it a little cramped (being 5’11 and 15 stone) so swooped to flying PA28’s. the PA28’s are a little dated as expected with a flying school, but we’re always maintained and there were plenty available.

I went on to complete my IR(r), night rating complex and aerobatic rating again at Wellesbourne in PA28’s, PA28R and their Grob 115. A selection of the PA28’s are IFR equipped and their PA28R’s are all IFR equipped and there was always availability (although I booked my flights plenty in advance).

Wellesbourne unfortunately closed for Aeros due to uncertainty of the airport (which has since reopened now the airport is secure) and I moved to their Coventry base.

The Coventry base is a great environment with all modern facilities, friendly staff and easy access from the A46. I completed my MEP at Coventry on one of the DA42’s (of which there are several in the fleet), which was well maintained and readily available for self fly hire if booked well enough in advance.

I went on to complete my MEIR at their Gloucester base, which again is a great environment, friendly staff and easy access from the M5. I completed my MEIR in their AL42 Sim and DA42 aircraft with the head of training Malcom Lassan, who is extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor to obtain a first time pass.

I returned to Coventry to complete my CPL again with Ken Masters after completing most of my training with him in one of their PA28R’s to obtain a first time pass.

Overall I had a good experience at Aeros where I completed my training in mid 2018 and have made many long term friends. I was happy to spend my own money and despite not being the cheapest, it was consistent good quality training with good (if sometimes dated) aircraft for their PA28’s, PA28R’s and DA42’s.

My only criticism would be some of the aircraft are a little dated but all the aircraft I flew were serviceable and to ensure you  get to fly the aircraft or instructor you want (such as IFR equipped or particular instructor) you have to book plenty in advance.
