Diamond is without doubt the best school in Europe for modular ME/IR/CPL training and the limited but raving reviews are to be believed.
The application process is fairly simple and Henrik was on hand to email me back about queries I had and was great from start to finish. I was ecstatic to find out I had a place on the course for spring/summer 2022.
Kalmar airport has every type of approach you can imagine and the DA42 is the real gem of the schools programme. It does everything great and is a really really fun aircraft to fly. The hotel/school is absolutely brilliant and it is more or less run by the students most of the time. It has a Jacuzzi, pool table, ping pong table, lounge area with sofas/TV, simulators to practice and a large dining room used for briefings and to study. The kitchen area in the other building is small but does it's job and everyone has their own space. The kitchen building also has its own bedrooms for visiting PC pilots and has a communal area for dining, playing uno after a mind boggling simulator session on occasion and a TV with Netflix to relax.
The best bit about this school, in my opinion, were the instructors. These guys know how to operate DA42's properly and will share their knowledge with you to make you reach your potential. The schools SOP's are very airline orientated and they will not let you away with digressing from those SOP's. They make you into a great pilot. Every one of them is also an accomplished pilot in their own right from private, airline and military backgrounds. They all take real pride in their training methods and they aim to make sure every student passes whilst having fun. The real nice thing was they also love to have a laugh and joke around which can make lessons on challenging areas feel really fun and manageable without compromising on training quality or goals. Mathias, Phillip, Chris, Tommy and Pontuz... I can't thank these guys enough for their training.
In my time, I also visited Denmark, Germany and seen most of Sweden from the air.
If you get the chance, got to DFAS. You simply will not regret it.
