I attended VA Airline Training in 2019. It was a fantastic experience, one which I will always remember. I have to say it was one of the best parts of my flight training journey even though it only last 3 weeks.
The instructors were all fantastic and the course is well structured, it is very easy to see your progress and debriefing comments via the FlightLogger platform which is great. All the course content, manuals, SOPs etc is well presented and simple to access.
The simulator also was amazing, extremely realistic. Several pilots I know who fly the real aircraft note how similar it feels. Only ever encountered one minor issue which was quickly solved with a reset and staff were available on hand to fix this.
Customer service and office staff were super friendly, I have been to two Pilot Careers Live events with the team and they offered to pay for my travel & accommodation.
The accommodation was provided, I chose the city centre option as it was much closer to the Airport. Approximately a 10-minute drive in the morning commute. Got along great with coursemates and it is a nice social life, exploring Cambridge on days off in the nice weather was a good way to relax.
VA is a very enthusiastic company and dedicated to the service they provide. They may be a little more expensive than other providers but overall I would say they are definitely worth it. You will only do APS MCC once so you may as well invest in your future with the best! I was always destined to choose them as when I was much younger I came for a flight simulator experience (this was when it was more open to the public as Virtual Aviation) even after all those years they still remembered my face.
I was successful in my first and only airline pilot interview and got a job as a First Officer only 28 days after finishing with them. Despite this, I have since been made redundant as the airline (Flybe) entered administration earlier this year.
