I completed an APS MCC on the B737-800 at VA and what can I say other than the training was fantastic from start to finish! From the moment I booked on to the course all my interactions with the office staff, management and the instructors were professional, helpful and very welcoming.
Before You start the course you are provided with material to read and learn so you can be fully prepared for when you arrive. All the material is of great standard and very helpful. The first four days are theoretical based to give you a base to work on while in the simulator sessions. After the four days are complete, your course is taken out for a meal along with some of the staff which is a lovely touch, and makes you feel very at ease whilst at the school.
You're then partnered up with someone for the simulator sessions and to help you prepare there are the "cardboard bombers" in the school for you and your partner to practice on together. Each simulator session has a detailed brief before and debrief after so you always feel well prepared beforehand, and you're always taking points away, good and bad, after. The instructors are all current or former airline pilots so have plenty of knowledge and experience to impart.
The facilities are great, it's all modern and very professional. The staff make you feel very welcome and are there to help with anything shall you need it.
VA do provide information on local accommodation but I opted to stay at a local airbnb along with a couple of friends who were also on the course. This meant we could discuss the course together as we progressed which was very helpful. We were a short drive away form the school but parking was plentiful and there was always a space to park in when you arrived.
Overall a very good experience and a very well run course. They even asked us for our feedback at the end of the course to help them improve going forward. Would recommend to anyone wanting to complete an APS MCC.
