This Review Overall Rating
Recommended by U.K. Flying to get my flight instructor and SEP quals to add to my CPL and MEIR (revalidated at Airways Oxford before they closed). Previously qualified military fast jet instructor. The course was one on one and tailored to me as a first for Skyborne. Training “as required” meant we focussed on the differences between military and civilian law etc. First time in an SEP for about 20 years but we managed to get in through the theory and get flying pretty quickly. From an ex-military point of view, the lack of a student study guide was frustrating. My instructor gave me his own notes book he had built up over the years. It could be the basis for a useful set of documents. We had difficulty with aircraft availability on test day. There is a T67 in the hangar which would have been a better fit for ex military pilots and not drain the new diamond aircraft. I have had a few post course issues with the wrong paperwork or incomplete paperwork from the test being given the the CAA. This has stretched out the time between finishing the course and getting the ratings added to about 4 months (and counting!) the length of time is down to the CAA, but the original incomplete paperwork was down to the examiner at the ATO. The chief flying instructor fixed all problems by email within 24hrs and could not have been more helpful. The examiner is part time staff.
since the FI and SEP course I recently visited Skyborne again to revalidate my MEIR with U.K.Flying. That company is not an ATO but offers THE best support to military and ex-military pilots.
