I took only 5 weeks off work to do the training (they told me it would be quite enough) and we could have been done in only 4 weeks! (If my CAA wasn’t what it is…) so contract fulfilled!

Rate was ~3h/day, 1 off day per week. It suited me perfectly.

Never had an aircraft or instructor availability issue.

The airfield is a former soviet base, uncontrolled and let’s say atypical… so you must go to other airports nearby to do your IFR approaches but it’s okay as you do some practice on your way.

It’s a family owned ATO : father and son are both CPL/IR instructors, the daughter does the paperwork, she’s pretty reactive.

They also hire other instructors as needed. They’re all very kind and helpful, they take you to/from the bus station, give you a bike and rent a whole flat in town for a really good price.

I would have liked to get more procedures but it’s probably due to my background (while I was an Air Force cadet, I had to know checklists, manuels and rules by heart before even touching the plane but didn’t get me too far).

Although, both my CPL (airline pilot) and IR (other school FI/FE) examiners were absolutely delighted with my skills and knowledge. So I guess it shows the training’s quality.

One downside, but due to Hungary itself : flat country and it’s mostly Class G airspace with a 10000’ TA. Then it can get boring sometimes on long flights, if so, it’s the occasion to chitchat or ask questions. I had some fun in air as well on ground. However they know to be strict when needed and/or when you mess things up.

Really recommended if you want to pay for what you need : FLIGHT, LEARN and get a comfortable place to sleep and study.
