This Review Overall Rating
I came here before starting my Cessna Citation Type Rating, as I needed the UPRT for the SPHP part of the aircraft. I will be honest and initially thought that the UPRT was just an event for people to whack some aerobatics on instagram, however I was very wrong.
Going back to the basics and getting some hands on flying time away from the commercial environment from my previous job was great and throughly enjoyable. Taking it back to learning about spins in ppl & atpls, wake turbulence, stalls and UPRT as a whole. I did my training in the firefly and what an aircraft, very well looked after and very powerful allowing for great performance whilst training. The training itself was meant to take 3 days however due to the nature of my course being very last minute and time sensitive the entirety of the course was flown in one day, which was brutal but well worth it allowing for a bit of formation flying at the end.
The course structure was clear and concise and each sortie had a number of elements to be ticked off, but was in a great order and easy to follow, allowing for a demonstration from the instructor, a followed through exercise to make sure it was done correctly and then a full "solo" attempt. This allowed for it to get stuck in the head and to be completed to a good degree.
Goodward is in an excellent location for training and the airport too is well set up for training with multiple runway orientations allowing for good variety of winds.
Once the flying was out the way the instructor led ground school was very interesting. Arising some great debates and stories from previous experiences as well as calling on previous theoretical knowledge gained from flying with the mantra of the school pitch, roll, power, stabilise well drilled into you by this point!
I was only 1 of 2 people on my course so personal time with the instructors and questions through the briefs and presentations were always very thorough given we had no time to get back for other students.
I can throughly recommend Mark and Ultimate High to anyone looking to get this course done, dont look at it as a tick box exercise but something to consolidate your training and something for you more importantly to enjoy. I believe that it will become a requirement in the future for all airlines so best get it done now whilst you can! Thank you to the team for being accommodating at such short notice and look forward to going back for future aeros and formation courses in the future.
