I completed the BGS Distance Learning ATPL course in 2018/19, in a little under 5 months. The course is primarily distanced based, through a detailed computer based syllabus and fantastic question bank, with a revision week in their modern facilities in Clevedon at the end of each of the 3 modules. Having worked through the syllabus and question banks at home, I found that the revision weeks were a useful brushing over of the course content to fill any remaining gaps in knowledge. The instructors had a great range of experience from both military and civilian backgrounds, used expertly to explain the content while keeping the tone light and keeping the class engaged. The computer program used for lessons could at times be a little slow, but nevertheless very useful in getting to grips with the concepts, with regular progress tests to ensure understanding. I'd say that the course is fantastic if you have the drive to complete the course on a distance learning basis, and was excellent preparation to complete the ATPL exams with what I am pleased to say were first time passes, completed in a short period.
