Excellent instructors and training. A/C and instructors availability could have been better.

This Review Overall Rating

The school was very supportive during the training and the quality of the training is very good. Instructors are excellent and really do push you to excellence.

Started PPL in Oct/Nov 2014 and finished in March 2015, very much limited by the weather on most days. The aircraft sometimes were over booked with PPL students at the school and also the Flying Club which made it a little busy but satisfactory.

Then started my ATPLs in Spring/summer 2015 and finished in the December 2015, eventually completing all the exams in Jan/Feb 2016 due to some exam deferrals. Quality ground school instructors, easily approachable and always helpful.

I then returned for my ME/CPL, ME/IR. One of the instructors is intimidating and you always have to be on your best with him. Overall the lesson learning was very good but it did make me very anxious for some lessons too.
IR instructor was excellent and got to learn a lot from him. A massive learning curve and probably the hardest thing I have done in my life.

There were a few issues I had towards the end of the training as I was paying a lot more than I had expected and more than I was quoted. Especially for landing fees, which on the quote stated “including landing fees” but didn’t mention anything about 1 landing per flight, which up to a few thousand pounds at the end. I queried it but it all went around circles and I didn’t receive anything.

The aircraft were old and had a lot of maintenance going on them weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. There were only 2 aircrafts and approx 8 students and sometimes more, which made the availability very hard.

The ops were very good at rearranging anything needed and were always helpful with anything needed.
The accommodation was provided for about 500£ per month, which is little more than the surrounding area but it keeps in the cluster of common students to socialise with, which was a plus. The kitchen was locked around 8/9 every night and then wouldn’t open in the morning, which was a pain. Overall good review for the accommodation.

the overall price I payed for the training was a little more than quoted but it was all worth it. And still ended up being cheaper than most schools in the UK. Overall I would liked the aircrafts and instructors to be more available for CPL and IR, I did have a to wait a while until commencement and then some more. Priority was given a lot to the Integrated students and modular were then looked after. I couldn’t have asked for better instructors and training which is one of the main factors for me, so very satisfied at the end.
