This Review Overall Rating
Despite the slick marketing, there is very little of substance to back it up. The school is terribly overcrowded, between 400 and 500 active students, but with very few instructors (the school shirks the 6:1 student:instructor limit by classifying time-building students as aircraft renters). The result is hardly any flight availability. You'll be lucky to fly once a week, and many students have stories of going without a flight for as much as two months straight due to a wide variety of cancellation reasons (some quite laughable).
The fleet looks nice and so do the simulators, but it's not much good without the opportunity to make use of the kit on a regular basis. It's a bit like having a sports car that sits in a showroom but can't be driven except on rare occasions.
The management lie to the students about the expected length of the program, touted as 16-18 months for the zero to hero modular ATPL program. But nobody finishes anywhere remotely close to that timeframe. Expect at least 3 years, maybe more. Once you're in the program, there are no refunds and you are stuck. And they refuse to give any guidance on when to expect to finish, once you've enrolled. It's all smoke and mirrors to convince you to part with your money.
The instructors are generally a friendly bunch, and most are pleasant to fly with. The quality of instruction is adequate in general.
I would struggle to recommend One Air after all the problems I experienced, and the unacceptably slow pace of things. Following so many delays, usually paired with a total lack of communication regarding said delays, I feel only regret at my decision to join this school. It was a huge mistake and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Management seems to have been overcome by greed, so they continue to welcome students for whom they don't have capacity. And you, the student, become their victim.
There are better schools in Spain, and even in Malaga. I flew helicopters at World Aviation and they are much more professional and a lot better organized. I've also spoken to quite a few students at Aerodynamics Academy and have yet to hear the sort of horror stories that I encountered regularly at One Air. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from One Air. You have been warned!
